Dear Friends of SMMS

Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary is one of the leading Theological Seminaries in the sub-region of Southern Africa and on the continent of Africa. We have committed ourselves to aligning our vision and priorities with these of the countries in our connexion and the continent of Africa, in order to contribute to the development of transforming leaders for church and nation through our research, teaching and community engagement activities.  Our imaging but growing reputation is linked to academic excellence and ministerial formation.

We are a Methodist institution that is committed to ecumenical cooperation, theological reflection of high standard and the production of transforming ministers who are rooted in the prophetic theological tradition.  We are committed to welcoming potential students, staff and partners who are passionate about being involved with us with the aim of promoting the common good and making the world a better place through sound and rigorous theological reflection. This we do together with our partners in the Cluster of Theological institutions. We offer a number of undergraduate programmes e.g. bachelor of theology, Diploma, Higher Certificate and a number of short courses.

We are also proud of our very close and collaborative partnership with the University of KwaZulu-Natal in offering postgraduate studies from honours to PhD. The University of KwaZulu-Natal is a leading research-based institution in South Africa and it is one of the two institutions in the continent that are in the top 500 universities in the world. SMMS is very proud of its close partnership with UKZN which includes the joint registration of students and collaboration between staff and students.

We an institution with a robust vision and our main objective is to be the leading centre of excellence for the study of theology in the continent by 2025. Our dream is to integrate theological knowledge into the economic, political and social aspects of life in the connexion, by offering education to highly talented and motivated people who will then engage in the life-giving and transforming churches and faith-inspired organizations. To do this we need your partnership and support, by becoming a friend of SMMS. To know more about this programme and about SMMS itself read more of our news from the website, Facebook and other forms of social media that we will be updating regularly in order to share with you news of your favourite Theological institution.
