In 1963 Seth Mokitimi became the first black President of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa. The Rev Mokitimi was an educationalist, leader, preacher and pastor whose life  modelled the  transformative servant-leadership we seek to form at SMMS. The “watchword” of a new South Africa, Mokitimi said, “must no longer be white or black, but black and white, none regarding the other as a menace but each in his own way contributing towards the full harmony of our South African life.”
